Released in June 2025, The HL‑L1240W and HL-L1242W models are compact monochrome A4 laser printer aimed at home and small‑office users. With a 150‑sheet input tray and a super‑small footprint, they're ideal for tight workspaces. The printers come with an initial toner cartridge capable of printing around 350 pages

Consumables

The HL-L1240W series printers uses the TN1150 (TN-1150) toner cartridge featuring up to 1000 page yield depending on page coverage and the DR1150 (DR-1150) Drum Unit, with a 10000 page life, again depending on coverage. This means that the Drum should in theory need replacing every 10 toner cartridges.

Early indications are that there will be no XL version of the toner, but this remains to be seen, in line with other recent releases. The printer will ship complete with a starter toner with a lower capacity of up to 350 pages only.

The new Brother HL-L1240W and HL-L1242W Printers (Not to be confused with the HL-1240W released back in 2001, that uses the TN6600 and DR6000 consumables!) are available from a few outlets currently but the consumables are not yet widely available. We'll have them listed for purchase just as soon as we can get our hands on them in both Genuine and Compatible versions!

What's in the Box?

You receive almost everything you need to get started, minus printer paper and a USB cable. Printers don't come with a USB cable these days, with the presumption being that you have one from your old printer, have purchased one seperately or are going to use it wirelessly. The Drum Unit is already installed inside the printer and your starter toner cartridge is wrapped in a foil packet. Other than that, you are given some simple instructions and a setup guide to get you underway. Don't forget to remove all tape and paper from inside and outside the printer and remove all Orange plastic guards from the toner before installing into the Drum.
