To ensure that your printer remains a reliable companion, regular maintenance is key. In the UK, where printers often face the challenges of varying weather conditions and heavy usage, taking proper care of your device becomes even more crucial. In this blog post, we'll explore essential printer maintenance tips to keep your machine running smoothly.

1. Keep it Clean

Just like any other electronic device, printers accumulate dust over time. Dust can clog the printhead nozzles and affect print quality. Regularly clean the exterior and interior of your printer using a soft, lint-free cloth. Be gentle and avoid using liquids directly on the machine.

Consider using a compressed air can too, as this can be useful in clearing the device and connectors of unwanted debris or dust. Why not add one of our cleaning and maintenance products to your next order.

2. Control Humidity

In the UK, where humidity levels can fluctuate, it's essential to store your paper in a cool, dry place. High humidity can cause paper to absorb moisture, leading to paper jams and print quality issues. Keep your paper in a sealed container to maintain its integrity. The same goes for your cartridges; all printer consumables.

3. Power Down Properly

When not in use, turn off your printer using the power button rather than unplugging it. This ensures that the printhead returns to its home position, preventing it from drying out or becoming clogged. Proper shutdown also conserves energy and extends the life of your printer.

4. Monitor Ink Levels

Keep a close eye on your printer's ink or toner levels. Running out of ink during an important print job can be frustrating; towards the end of a cartridge’s life-cycle, it can also cause a slight fade and drop in quality too. Many printers come with software that provides ink level notifications. Additionally, consider keeping spare cartridges on hand to avoid interruptions. This avoids delays in transit from being the roadblock to your printing.

5. Run Regular Print Tests

Perform regular print tests to check for issues such as faded prints or misalignments. This allows you to identify and address problems promptly. Consult your printer's manual for instructions on how to run diagnostic tests. Misplaced the manual, or can’t find it online? Contact us at support@inkredible.co.uk to ask for any assistance; we’re here to help!

Conclusion

Maintaining your printer in the UK requires a combination of preventive measures and regular checks. By following these essential tips, you can ensure that your printer remains in top-notch condition, providing reliable and high-quality prints whenever you need them. Taking care of your printer not only prolongs its life but also saves you from the hassle of unexpected breakdowns and repairs.

urn:store:1:blog:post:23https://www.inkredible.co.uk/how-to-protect-yourself-from-scam-emailsHow To Protect Yourself From Scam Emails

How To Protect Yourself From Scam Emails

Protect Yourself From Fraud

Email scams have become increasingly sophisticated and prevalent. One of the most common types of email scams involves fraudsters posing as reputable organisations to deceive individuals into sharing sensitive information or making financial transactions. One such scam that has gained notoriety is the Royal Mail scam, where cybercriminals impersonate Royal Mail and request extra payment. In this blog post, we'll shed some light on this scam and provide you with tips to protect yourself from falling victim to it.

The Royal Mail Scam: How It Works

The Royal Mail scam typically starts with an email that appears to be from Royal Mail, a trusted UK postal service. These emails often use convincing branding and logos to make them appear legitimate. The content of the email usually includes a message claiming that there is a package waiting for you, but it cannot be delivered until an extra fee is paid.

Here are some common elements you might find in these scam emails:

Urgent Language:

Scammers use urgency and pressure to manipulate victims. They may state that your parcel will be returned to the sender or destroyed if you don't pay immediately.

Request for Payment:

The email will instruct you to click on a link to make the supposed payment. This link often leads to a fake website designed to collect your financial information.

Suspicious Email Addresses:

Check the sender's email address carefully. Scammers often use email addresses that resemble the genuine Royal Mail domain but have slight variations, such as including hyphens, underscores or mis-spellings.

How to Protect Yourself from Royal Mail Scams

Protecting yourself from Royal Mail scams and similar email fraud is crucial. Here are some steps you can take to stay safe:

Be Skeptical:

Always be cautious when receiving unsolicited emails, especially those requesting personal or financial information. Be wary of emails that create a sense of urgency.

Verify the Sender:

Check the sender's email address closely. Royal Mail emails will typically come from "@royalmail.com." If it looks suspicious, don't open the email or click on any links.

Avoid Clicking on Links:

Never click on links or download attachments from unknown or unverified sources. Instead, visit the official Royal Mail website directly by typing the URL into your browser. You can also hover over links in emails and the target URL or website address should appear, usually in the bottom left corner of your browser window. Use this to check where the link would have taken you, instead of clicking it.

Use Strong Passwords:

Ensure your email account and online banking accounts have strong, unique passwords. Consider using a reputable password manager to keep track of your credentials securely, especially if this helps you use different passwords for each login you use.

Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA):

Whenever possible, enable 2FA for your email and financial accounts. This adds an extra layer of security. Usually this will be in the form of a second form of verification through your mobile number or a mobile authentication app such as Google or Microsoft Authenticator.

Report Suspicious Emails:

If you receive a suspicious email, report it to your email provider and to Action Fraud in the UK (or the equivalent agency in your country).

Educate Yourself and Others

Share information about email scams with friends and family to help protect them from falling victim to similar scams.

Overview

Scammers continually evolve their tactics to deceive unsuspecting individuals, but by staying informed and vigilant, you can protect yourself from falling victim to Royal Mail and similar email scams. Remember that legitimate organisations like Royal Mail will never ask for payment via email without proper documentation and due process. Always verify the authenticity of emails before taking any action and report suspicious activity promptly. Your online safety and financial security should always be a top priority. Look out for scam emails imitating other companies such as Paypal, Banking Organisations and Government portals such as HMRC or DVLA.

urn:store:1:blog:post:22https://www.inkredible.co.uk/top-10-printing-appsTop 10 Mobile Printing Apps

Top 10 Printing Apps: Android/Apple

Introduction

In today's digital age, printing documents and photos has become a seamless process thanks to the numerous printing apps available for smartphones and tablets. Original cartridges are manufactured by the printer's brand, while compatible cartridges are third-party alternatives designed to work with your printer. Each option has its own set of advantages and disadvantages. In this blog post, we will compare original and compatible ink cartridges, highlighting their pros and cons, to help you make an informed decision for your printing needs.

Pros of Original Ink Cartridges

Superior Print Quality

Original ink cartridges are specifically designed and engineered by the printer manufacturer to work seamlessly with their printers. As a result, they often provide better print quality with accurate colours, sharper details, and consistent results.

Reliability and Compatibility

Using original cartridges ensures compatibility and reduces the risk of compatibility issues or printer malfunctions. Manufacturers rigorously test their cartridges, ensuring they meet the highest standards and work seamlessly with their printers.

Warranty Coverage

Most printer manufacturers offer warranty coverage for their original ink cartridges. If a cartridge is found to be defective or causes damage to the printer, the manufacturer will typically provide support or a replacement at no additional cost.

Technical Support

Purchasing original cartridges from the printer manufacturer gives you access to their technical support team. If you encounter any issues or have questions, you can reach out to them for assistance and troubleshooting.

Cons of Original Ink Cartridges

Higher Cost

Original ink cartridges tend to be more expensive compared to compatible cartridges due to the brand reputation, research, and development costs associated with their production.

Limited Availability

Depending on your location and printer model, finding original cartridges might be more challenging than compatible alternatives

Pros of Compatible Ink Cartridges

Cost Savings

Compatible ink cartridges are more affordable than their original counterparts. By opting for compatible cartridges, you can significantly reduce your printing costs, especially for high-volume printing.

Wide Availability

Compatible cartridges are produced by various third-party manufacturers, making them widely available in stores and online. You have a greater chance of finding compatible cartridges that are compatible with your printer model.

Quality Improvement

Over the years, compatible cartridges have greatly improved in quality, thanks to advancements in manufacturing technology. Many reputable third-party manufacturers produce cartridges that deliver excellent print quality, difficult to distinguish from original cartridges.

Environmental Benefits

By choosing compatible cartridges, you contribute to reducing electronic waste. These cartridges are often made from recycled materials, particularly in the case of 'Remanufactured' cartridges, and using them helps promote a more sustainable printing practice.

Cons of Compatible Ink Cartridges

Not All Are Equal

There can be wide variations in performance across different brands and models of compatible cartridges, many reputable manufacturers and retailers now produce high-quality cartridges that provide reliable print results. The key is finding something that works for you and stick with it.

Compatibility Assurance

Although compatible cartridges are designed to be compatible with specific printer models, these cartridges can be produced to differing designs and it's essential to choose cartridges from reputable manufacturers or suppliers to ensure proper compatibility. This helps avoid any potential issues, particularly when using cartridges of different designs from different suppliers.

Choosing between original and compatible ink cartridges ultimately depends on your specific needs and priorities. While original cartridges offer reliability and manufacturer support, compatible cartridges provide cost savings, wide availability and improved quality.

By opting for compatible cartridges from reputable manufacturers, you can enjoy the benefits of affordability, quality, and environmental sustainability without significant concerns about compatibility or warranty issues. Consider your budget, printing requirements, and desired print quality before making a decision.

Whichever option you choose, proper cartridge handling, storage, installation and maintenance will contribute to maximizing their lifespan and overall printing experience.

We’re here to help if you need any advice regarding selecting suitable cartridges for your printer.

urn:store:1:blog:post:20https://www.inkredible.co.uk/how-to-turn-off-brother-automatic-firmware-updatesHow to Turn Off Brother Automatic Firmware Updates
From time to time, printer manufacturers release new firmware updates to your printer. Often these updates prevent or restrict the use of third party compatible ink and toner, which limits your choice as a customer.

You can usually choose to disable these automatic updates through your printer menu, and although it can differ between printers, we outline the general steps required on Brother printers, below.

Select 'Settings' > 'All Settings'

Select 'Machine Info'

Select 'Firmware Auto Check - ON'

Change setting to 'OFF'

urn:store:1:blog:post:19https://www.inkredible.co.uk/maxify-printers-how-to-remove-cartridgesCanon Maxify Printers - How to Remove Cartridges
What is the issue?

For some unknown reason, the Canon Maxify range of printers (using PGI-1500 and PGI-2500 ink cartridges) have no way of letting you release and remove cartridges unless they've run out of ink.

Usually this can be done on most printers by simply opening the lid, however, the Maxify range greet you with a rather blunt message of 'Close Lid'.

Luckily, there is a workaround that isn't too tricky to perform. We've created a quick tutorial video showing how to do this. As per the picture below, it involves manually rotating the cartridge release cog at the left hand side, inside the printer.

Firstly, turn the printer on and open the lid. Wait until the printhead begins to move across the carriage before pulling the power or switching off at the plug. This will enable you to move the printhead freely without risk of damage.

Locate the cog in the picture above and rotate it clockwise until you hear a click. This will have activated the blue cartridge release button to remove one cartridge. Simply move the required cartridge into place to remove and press the release button to do so.

Continue this for each additional cartridge you wish to remove, before connecting power and switching the printer back on. The printer should then prompt for missing cartridges to be installed.

urn:store:1:blog:post:18https://www.inkredible.co.uk/printer-recommendation-june-2022Printer Recommendation - June 2022

Printer Recommendation - June 2022

When it comes to purchasing a printer, there's a few factors you need to consider. As well as the usual security checks performed when entering your payment details, there is now a further step required by banks before they will give the green light for your payment to be sent... PSD2, or in other words, Revised Payment Services Directive.

You probably don't recognise the name, but in short it is the EU legislation for electronic payment services that aims to make online card payments more secure in Europe. What it means for online shoppers, as part of the PSD2 regulation, is that two-factor authentication will be a requirement when making online card payments with ourselves and all other online retailers.

This is something that retailers will automatically offer at checkout through their payment provider. With many other forms of payment such as Paypal, Amazon, Apple and Google Pay already using certain forms of two-factor authentication, the main thing to remember is that it is done for your security and to help prevent and restrict online fraud... The standard options are to receive a code to your registered mobile phone number or email address which is then entered at the online prompt or by logging in to your mobile banking app to prove you're making the payment.

Some customers may have already experienced these two-factor authentication requests during the last few years, but as it is now a pre-requisite rather than a choice for retailers and banks, you will be seeing it more and more regularly. If you do not have a mobile phone or the mobile banking app installed for your bank, it is probably the time to contact them for more information on how to register details for use during two-factor authentication checkouts.

It's not all bad news as some banks will give you the opportunity to register certain websites as 'safe' after you have verified them once, which will significantly reduce the need to enter verification codes in the future.

urn:store:1:blog:post:16https://www.inkredible.co.uk/printable-christmas-cardsPrintable Christmas Cards
We have 4 Christmas card designs to choose from, shown below. The error could also occur on other printers in this range.

The error code is basically caused by an obstruction within the printer, usually a paper jam but could be any foreign body that has found its way into the printer (those with young children will understand!). The obstruction stops the carriage and print head from moving into the correct position when powering up the printer. The print head should come to rest at the right hand side of the carriage and position itself over the waste ink sponges. If the print head is unable to do so, it returns the '6A81' error message.

You can see from the picture, the position of the two waste ink sponges towards the right hand side. The sponges are spring loaded and move backwards and forwards when the printer initialisation occurs upon start up.

The problem in our case was caused by two pieces of torn paper. One at the far right of the printer which was simple to remove, but the other was stuck in a small opening behind the spring mechanism for the waste ink sponges. This was preventing the sponges from being moved freely and seated correctly, which in turn meant that the print head was unable to pass over them and come to rest in the correct position.

To remove the torn paper we turned off the power to the printer (to prevent any damage to the carriage mechanism) and used a pair of tweezers to carefully pull the offending article through the small gap. We missed this hidden piece of paper the first time we checked for obstructions so it's worth shining a torch in and having a good nose around!

Close your printer lid, power on the printer and et voila... Canon error code 6A81 is no more!
urn:store:1:blog:post:14https://www.inkredible.co.uk/how-to-remove-a-canon-printheadHow to Remove a Canon Printhead

A common source of frustration from our customers relates to experiencing poor print quality, caused by a blockage in the printhead.

Many printers include a tools or maintenance menu for such occasions, featuring both a diagnostic nozzle print check or print quality report and a head clean and/or deep head clean option. Ideally, use the 'nozzle check' print out first to help diagnose which cartridge colours might not be printing fully on to the paper, before performing a head clean (or deep head clean if the results are particularly poor) to help push through any internal dried ink, ink clots or even air bubbles that might be in the system. Follow this up with another nozzle check to see if improvements have been made.

Some internal blockages are very stubborn and the in-built tools can struggle to make any improvement to print quality. With most printers this is problematic, as you've got no other tools at your disposal (Some head cleaning cartridges may be an option if available for your printer, but this is not usually the case).

Luckily, many Canon printers feature a removable printhead to perform manual cleaning. Removing a printhead can also solve some cartridge recognition issues, as we'll explain later.

The steps outlined below relate to printers using the PGI-550/CLI-551 and PGI-570/CLI-571 cartridges. Previous Canon ranges may have an alternative way of removing the printhead, usually via a Grey lever at the right hand side.

<h3 style="color: #ff6600";>Tools

<a class="blog" href="https://www.inkredible.co.uk/af-air-duster-200ml" color: blue; target="_blank">Air Duster/Compressed Air

Syringe

Kitchen Roll or Soft Cloth

Isopropyl Alcohol

<h3 style="color: #ff6600";>Step 1

Turn the printer on and wait until you hear the internal parts moving backwards and forwards. Pull the power at this point and open the lid. You should then be able to move the printhead manually to a position for removal, without pulling against the printers natural internal electronics. The print head or internals should not be moved while the printer is powered on.

Remove all cartridges and pull the bar towards you that has the cartridge colour labels on it. This will unlock the printhead.

<h3 style="color: #ff6600";>Step 2

The bar will pull forwards as below and you can then pull the printhead towards you by gripping the central plastic 'spine' circled below.

<h3 style="color: #ff6600";>Step 3

The printhead will tilt forward by 90 degrees as below, and can then be removed for inspection.

<h3 style="color: #ff6600";>Step 4 - Cartridge Recognition Issues

Check the metal contacts on the back of the printhead for debris, paper dust or ink as they can all prevent a correct contact when installed in the printer.

It's also worth blowing compressed air at the contacts situated behind where the printhead sits in the printer.

<h3 style="color: #ff6600";>Step 5 - Deep Printhead Blockage

Place the printhead on absorbent kitchen roll and ideally with a syringe, drop isopropyl alcohol on to each nozzle where you suspect there is a blockage. It's often worth cleaning all while the printhead is removed from the printer.

The Isopropyl alcohol will help to break up any hardened ink inside the printhead. You can also run the printhead nozzles under a running tap until the ink runs clear from the bottom. Air Duster/Compressed Air can be used to help push through any clots of ink and also to speed up the internal drying process

The printhead should be ideally left overnight to fully dry on kitchen roll to absorb any residue left inside and the compressed air can be used again to double check it's all dry before installing back in the printer

<h3 style="color: #ff6600";>Step 6 - Re-install

Whether you've removed the printhead to solve recognition issues or print quality issues, it should be re-install as it was removed. Insert at 90 degrees with the nozzles facing towards you before letting the printhead fall backwards into place. Once in place, simply push the bar back to lock the printhead in place.

The cartridges can then be re-installed and the printer plugged in. I'd recommend performing a nozzle check and head clean to make sure everything is coming through as it should be, then you should hopefully be good to go!

urn:store:1:blog:post:13https://www.inkredible.co.uk/installing-compatible-brother-ink-cartridgesInstalling Compatible Brother Ink Cartridges

As we've received more than one query from customers using compatible cartridges for their Brother printer, we decided to cover information surrounding the installation process in this blog post.

The main concern we hear is that compatible cartridges require a little more force than Genuine OEM Brother cartridges when installing them into the print head, with the worry that pushing too hard may somehow damage the printer, which is a valid concern of course.

Most Brother inkjet printers feature separate 'spikes' in the print head that should align with each cartridge nozzle during installation. The main difference between installing a compatible cartridge and an OEM cartridge is that the compatible cartridge generally has a thin layer of plastic covering the nozzle (which is the reason for the extra force required to pierce it) whereas the OEM cartridge does not, as can be seen below:

You can see in the video, a little more force is required initially for the spike to pierce the plastic membrane, but once pierced, the cartridge moves in and out as easily as you'll be used to. We can see how this can lead to doubts about compatibility as it is slightly different to what you might be used to, but it is just a matter of installing your first compatible cartridge and you should then be confident in the technique required going forward.

Note: The video above shows us installing an LC3219XL cartridge in place of an LC3217 cartridge. The LC3219XL cartridge is simply a high capacity version of the LC3217 range and is fully compatible and interchangeable, depending on your printing requirements.

urn:store:1:blog:post:11https://www.inkredible.co.uk/free-easter-printablesFree Easter Printables

The kids haven't long been back to school but we're now approaching the Easter holidays, a time for family, chocolate and hopefully getting out and about in some Spring sunshine.

We've put together some Free Easter printables to download and keep the kids entertained long enough to have a cuppa in peace!

Check out our selection of Easter card printables below!

Knowing the weather in the UK, we'll probably have snow at some point, so for those inevitable cold, wet days when the little ones have nothing to do, our Easter colouring and puzzle printables might buy you enough time for a well earned cuppa and a chocolatey treat!

urn:store:1:blog:post:12https://www.inkredible.co.uk/installing-patent-free-epson-compatible-ink-cartridgesInstalling Patent Free Epson Compatible Ink Cartridges

You've ordered and received Inkredible ink cartridges for your Epson printer, but they look slightly different to what you're used to... You're probably wondering how to install them in your printer, or even if they are correct for your printer?

One of our biggest customer queries is "how do I install my replacement Epson cartridges, they don't look right?". Our compatible ink cartridges for Epson printers are 'patent free' in order to comply with Epson patents, which means their physical dimensions and chip design might differ to OEM Genuine Epson cartridges and some other compatible cartridges that don't comply with those guidelines.

However, our cartridges are still compatible with your printer. Sometimes they may look slightly smaller, feature a different securing clip or chip and have a slightly different cartridge code on the label than you're used to. The educational side of it, at any rate. Especially if you're avoiding campus just now, either due to the pandemic or just simply because you prefer your bed to the lecture hall.

As you move through uni, your work will take on an ever increasing importance - so you will need to make sure you've got a reliable and economical printing set-up to get your assignments and dissertation in on time and without unnecessary expense.

But we all know students aren't wandering around with wads of cash in their pocket, so how best to maximise your budget when printing for uni? Here's a few tips.

Buy a cheap but effective printer

While it may be tempting if you're short of cash to buy a mega-cheap printer, remember, 'most' cheap printers come with high running costs.

High running costs don't have to be a problem if you print rarely but, as a student, you'll likely be doing a fair bit. The key, then, is to do a little research.

Just work out what you really need - why not go for a capable but basic model, that doesn't have loads of added extras that you don't need? Just make sure you check out the price of the consumables before committing to purchase. You may get a nasty surprise the first time you run out of ink!

If you can, try to stay away from two-cartridge printers. These are often the cheapest to buy initially but then you're likely to spend the same again on your first set of replacement ink. They're also quite uneconomical in use - the tri-colour cartridge may seem like a good idea, but ultimately once one of the colours has depleted, you'll no longer be able to print with true colours and the cartridge becomes more or less redundant. You also only get a minimal amount of ink in the cartridges, due to there being three colours in one.

Consider if you need to print in colour at all. If not, a cheap mono laser printer might be the best bet. For between £50-£80, a small home laser printer could save you time due to their excellent print speed and money as they can excel on a cost per print basis, especially using third party consumables.

Although almost all modern printers feature a wi-fi connection, you might want to think about other features you might use such as automatic duplex (where the printer automatically prints on both sides of the paper), copier/scanner function and whether it has a rear or tray feed (or both).

Pool your resources

If you're living in halls or a shared house, think about pooling your resources together with your uni pals. You probably do this already with other stuff - food, for example, maybe energy, the internet. Why not do it with printing?

You could all club together and stick some cash in a pot to buy a printer you can all use. That will either save you plenty of cash or alternatively you could be able to afford a more expensive printer with better features this way. Similarly, with ink and toner for your shared printer, why not buy it in bulk to save more money and store it until required - ink can be used for years and you'll always have a supply at hand when you need it.

Check out your campus (Once restrictions are lifted!)

Most universities (well, all probably) will run dedicated printing suites where you can pop in anytime and print something off. If you're living close to campus, this is a really good idea as it will mean you don't have to buy a printer (just be prepared for a walk each time you need to print).

Universities usually offer printing cards which can be topped-up and often offer some free credit - typically a couple of quid. Still, every little helps.

And with services such as Google Cloud Print or Microsoft One Drive, you might even be able to send your document to print from the comfort of your bed before strolling along to pick it up.

Change your printer settings

Basic stuff really - only use colour when you need it. If it's a draft document, why not print in draft mode and save yourself some ink? Oh, and don't forget the power of duplex printing (if your printer has it?), where you can choose to print on both sides of your paper. It's been an extremely busy last year at Inkredible, not least because we've all been facing the challenges of a global pandemic during the last 11 months, but also because we've been working hard behind the scenes making lots of improvements to our website.

After an immensely busy week and some long hours this weekend, we finally launched the updated website on Sunday 24th January. Despite a few expected issues and teething problems, overall, we're very pleased with how things are shaping up. We've still got many improvements and tweaks to make, products to transfer and features to implement, but all systems are go to get everything complete as soon as we can!

You might notice a few differences between old and new Inkredible initially and I'll highlight a few below for starters...

urn:store:1:blog:post:6https://www.inkredible.co.uk/print-your-own-halloween-masksPrint Your Own Halloween Masks
Print Your Own Halloween Masks

After you've printed your favourite design to create a spooky Halloween Candle, why not complete your frightening look by downloading and printing our creepy Halloween masks!

We have 4 pre-coloured designs to choose from, in both full mask and eye mask variations depending on what you prefer. To keep the kids busy, we've also included each design in Black and White, so get the felt tips out and let their creativity run wild!

Simply click the download link below, print out the masks you desire, cut them out and attach some elastic through the holes at each side. Alternatively you can attach some old lolly sticks to use them as hand-held masks.

We recommend printing the pre-coloured masks on your printers 'high quality' setting whereas the Black and White uncoloured masks should be fine on a standard print setting.

We'd also use either 130gsm or 190gsm Matt Photo Paper for the best quality possible. This also provides greater strength than standard 80gsm printer paper and the mask is likely to last that little bit longer.

Halloween Colouring Sheet

If you've already downloaded and printed our Halloween Part Invites and plan on having a houseful of kids after 'trick or treating', why not hand out our Halloween themed colouring sheet to keep them quiet while you have a well deserved cuppa!

Halloween Mask Printables

Halloween Colouring Printable

urn:store:1:blog:post:5https://www.inkredible.co.uk/how-to-print-halloween-candlesHow To Print Halloween Candles
What do you need?

Pillar candles

Tissue paper (or paper napkins)

Inkjet printer and paper

Glue stick

Scotch tape

Hair dryer

How do I create my candles?

STEP 1

Cut the tissue paper a few inches smaller than the printer paper and then scotch tape the tissue or napkin to the paper. When you are finished, run an iron over it a few times on the lowest setting to make sure it is perfectly flat. Once done you can then print the image on to the tissue paper.

STEP 2

Cut out your image. It is advised to cut through both tissue and the paper, this also makes it easier to cut round.

STEP 3

Wipe some glue around the edges of the design and stick the image to the candle- this helps to prevent the tissue paper from moving when you use the hair dryer.

STEP 4

Hold the hair dryer a few inches away and go over the design. The candle will heat up and the tissue paper will begin to merge into the candle. The white parts of the tissue paper will start to disappear and by magic you will have your Halloween candle!

TOP TIP!

This is great fun for the kids, especially during school holidays to keep them entertained! Why not get the kids to design their own pictures, simply scan them in and print them on to tissue paper. The possibilities are endless!

Download Halloween Candle Stencils

urn:store:1:blog:post:4https://www.inkredible.co.uk/inkredible-business-accountsInkredible Business Accounts
Making the change from OEM to our compatible inks is not just cost effective, but stress free. We'll help you every step of the way in helping your ink go four times further!

Reports from 2019 suggest that the average employee in Britain prints a whopping 8,000 pages per year! If we consider that at a 5% coverage costing you or your company 5p to print each page of paper when using genuine cartridges, this can equate to somewhere in the region of £400 per employee over the course of a single year.

According to the 2012 Small Business Survey the average SME in the UK employs 16 employees, totalling £6,400 worth of printing costs over the course of a year. And remember, this is based only on a 5% coverage* of ink on each page. Based on the average saving you can expect when using our inks, a single employee's printing costs could be dramatically reduced to just £100, and so for a team of 16, would set you back just £1,600!

That's a saving of up to 75%!

Not only would you save a packet on your inks, but you also get expert advice on any of your printing needs. Very handy in the current climate of home schooling, especially when many kids books are full and parents spend half their time with a ruler and pencil drawing lines onto printer paper!

We take a look at how to do this on the most popular printer ranges below...

Canon Printers

This is nice and simple on many Canon printers. From the home screen, choose the following:

Press 'Setup' button > Template Print

or

Scroll down to 'Advanced Print' > Scroll Right to 'Template Print'

You then have a selection of 5mm, 6mm or 7mm lined paper (with margin), 3mm or 5mm graph paper and a checklist, weekly planner or monthly planner. You can select a quantity

Epson Printers

If your Epson printer has this feature, you will most likely find it under one of the following:

More Functions > Print Ruled Papers

or

Press 'Photo' button > Print Ruled Papers > Scroll left/right to select

Wide Rule, Thin Rule or Graph Paper should be the available options and you can usually set a quantity of up to 99 to print at one time.

HP Printers

HP printers can vary, but it's an app or tool called 'Quick Forms' that you'll be need to find on your printer menu.

Quick Forms can be used in a similar way to the Canon or Epson equivalent tools to produce blank Music Sheets, Checklists, Calendars, Note Paper and Graph Paper.
urn:store:1:blog:post:1https://www.inkredible.co.uk/top-3-recommended-printersTop 3 Recommended Printers
When it comes to choosing a new printer, it can be a real headache. We consider them amongst the best currently available to get you printing efficiently, economically and with as little fuss as possible! Be sure to click the links to see if any of the cartridges or printers are currently on sale!

Canon PIXMA MG5750 All-in-one Printer

The first of our recommendations is Canon PIXMA MG5750 at £59.99 (RRP £99.99) This printer was first released 4 years ago and is still being produced today, albeit only from Currys/PC World. The printer regularly fluctuates in price between £49.99 and £99.99 so it's definitely worth snapping up at the lower end of the range.

It requires the PGI-570/CLI-571 cartridges, which are both affordable and reliable. We sell the extra capacity cartridges from this range and as it stands, is still one of our most popular ranges! Whether you need to print, scan or copy - this printer can do it all and is ideal for home users.

It's easy to navigate, control and connect with the MG5750 as you can print directly from your phone, tablet or computer using the wireless system built into the printer. The MG5750 remains our top pick for printers due to the availability and price of both the cartridges and the printer itself. You will be printing in no time.

The only disadvantage we can see is the lack of a rear paper feed, which may limit your choices when it comes to photo printing on thicker paper.

Canon PIXMA TS5051 All-in-one Printer

Our next recommendation goes to the Canon PIXMA TS5051 £59.99 (RRP £99.99), for affordability and reliability. Similarly to the Canon PIXMA MG5750, the TS5051 requires the same bargain PGI-570/CLI-571 cartridges. It is a compact printer, with wireless features allowing you to print directly from your phone, tablet or PC which is getting ever more important for home users.

When it comes to navigating and operating the TS5051 - the redesigned user interface works hand-in-hand with the wireless connectivity to ensure high quality, stress-free printing, on a budget.

Unlike the MG5750 above, the Canon PIXMA TS5051 does feature a rear paper feed and a lower tray so it's good news for those printing photos! It also allows for easy printing, scanning and copying thanks to the clear 6.2cm screen and simple array of buttons on the dash.

Overall, this printer serves the purpose of making printing easy, while providing excellent quality, all at an affordable price. The printer is a neat, understated little package, but has all the features we feel a home user would need.

Brother MFC-J497DW All-in-one Printer

The final printer we would recommend belongs to the Brother family. The Brother MFC-J497DW (RRP £89.99) fits the criteria of being affordable, reliable and easy to navigate. This printer requires the LC3213 cartridges, which like the printer, are cheap and cheerful whilst also maintaining high quality consistently throughout your printing.

The Brother MFC-J497DW is not shy of effective features, with one of them being built-in Wi-Fi to enable an unchallenging experience when it comes to connecting your electrical devices. An impressive component of the MFC-J497DW is the USB port which allows you to directly print from the USB - meaning you wouldn't even need to use any other device to print! As well as the standard print, copy and scan functions, this model provides the ability to fax.

With a 100 page paper tray capacity and print speeds of up to 27 pages per minute (Black) and 23 pages per minute (colour), you won't be left waiting to complete those larger print jobs!
