The Oscars...and Epson?

28 February 2012

In all seriousness, according to the company, its products have been favoured by organisers of the Annual Academy Awards for over a decade.

And this year, the 84th Academy Awards, was no different.

Epson printer cartridges were used to print official credentials for the event, which took place on Sunday evening.

"This is the second year in a row that we've used the Epson WorkForce 60 printers to produce thousands of official backstage credentials," said Deborah Cahn, manager of credential operations for the Academy.

"I found the Epson WorkForce printers to perform better than any other printer in the non-stop printing sessions required to get all the credentials printed, both in terms of speed and drying time, which is near-instant."

Meryl Streep, scooped up the Best Actress gong for her role as Margaret Thatcher in The Iron Lady, and George Clooney, nominated for The Descendants, narrowly missed out on Best Actor to newcomer Jean Dujardin for his role in The Artist.

This trend continued throughout the evening with the silent movie collecting 5 gongs in total: Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Original Score and Best Costume Design.
