Apple's 'shake to print' patent

Apple certainly captured the world's attention with the release of the iPhone 5 and iOS6.

Now, the company has released a series of patents outlining some pretty funky and innovative ideas that will take its technology to the next level.

Amongst these patents was a pair of wireless headphones, or EarPods. OK, yeh, that's pretty cool but it's kind of been done.

What really excited us was the patent entitled 'Systems and Methods for Defining Print Settings Using Device Movements'.

This technology would essentially allow the user to shake their iPhone or iPad in order to print something out.

Apple has been using this 'shake to ...' for a while now. Currently, if you shake your iPhone whilst playing music, it will put your playlist on shuffle, so although the technology isn't exactly revolutionary, the implementation of it in regards to printing is.

Hopefully, if this patent comes to fruition, it will see more people printing out photos, documents and emails direct from their handheld device.
